The impact of cuts to humanitarian aid funding is immediate and severe
In Sudan, funding cuts will prevent at least 500,000 displaced people from accessing water, sanitation, and medical care. The brutal conflict has forced 9 million people to flee their homes, many of whom are in urgent need of shelter, mental health care, and psychosocial support.
In Burundi, funding cuts have suspended nutrition programs. Thousands of children may no longer receive treatment for malnutrition. 10,000 pregnant women could lose access to care. Public clinics are already overwhelmed, and cholera is spreading.
In Ethiopia, 4 out of 7 nutrition services for refugees have been shut down. 80,000 children under the age of 5 are at risk of severe malnutrition.
In the Eastern Horn of Africa and Great Lakes Region, one million vulnerable children — some unaccompanied — face an increased risk of abuse and exploitation.
